For studying Wordly Wise!!!! For students that my have forgotten their Wordly Wise book at home, they may go on the internet to http://www.wordlywise.com/ and search for fifth grade. Then, search for Lesson 1. They will need to know all variations of the word given.

HW: Study matching game for organelles and their functions. Test over theses and the drawing and labeling of a plant and animal cell will be next Friday, Sept. 6.
The organelles and functions sheet is attached below. The will also need to to draw a plant cell and label the following organelles: cell wall, cell membrane, nucleus, mitochondria, vacuole, chloroplasts, cytoplasm, and chlorophyll (this is the green pigment located within the chloroplasts)
They will also need to draw an animal cell and include these organelles for it: cell membrane, nucleus, mitochondria, vacuole, and cytoplasm.
Extra Credit: Think of a creative way to remember the organelles and their functions. For example: The cell is like a factory...what would all of the organelles jobs be. It could be a circus or a classroom...the ideas are endless! Let your creative juices flow! Write it out on final draft paper or type out. Also, it needs to be thoroughly explained! If well done, you will win $100 Cardinal Cash for your creative work! This is due by Monday, Sept. 9! Have fun!
